Reflections on Our Busiest Year Yet…

Owner and Founder Mo Karnage reflects on Karnage Construction’s busiest year yet and our 10 year anniversary.

Just yesterday, January 30th I received 72 emails to my business email account.

7 were spam, 5 from my employees, 8 from news outlets or organizations I am a part of, 14 from suppliers and subcontractors, and 38 from clients or potential clients. Some of these were back and forth threads so more than 1 actual email in the 24 hour period.

I need to count, but the volume of potential clients we had in 2023 was insanely high and not managing that influx well is my biggest regret. I accidentally ghosted people or didn't get back to them nearly as quickly as I want to because my previous methods of organizing and handling all of that just simply could not keep up with the rather sudden increase.

That's just the one business email account. I also am constantly getting Instagram messages, Facebook messages, texts, phone calls, emails to my personal account and submissions through the forms on my website.

In q4 of 2022 I had 12 requests via one client intake form I have been using. In Q1 2023 it was 23, Q2 - 25, Q3 - 37. Then I switched the way I did forms. But Yea.

It's a lot. A lot of a good thing. A lot to live up to. Just gonna keep adjusting as I go, and I have 2 office people now to help and 1 site lead who is training in bids so they can help get those done too.

I started 2023 off with 5 employees, and ended with 10. Doubled the amount of living wage jobs I created in a year's time. Having a physical office also helps immensely.

I am grateful and lucky to have this many people wanting to hire us, and please keep em coming. I will always try to improve so as to better serve our community and clients.

If you reach out or have reached out and didn't get a response or a response in a timely manner, I am very sorry. I hate that this has happened and I am busting my butt to get to everyone I can. Please send follow up emails if you are willing to, it helps us prevent losing you to the avalanche of emails.

It's a lot to manage with employees, my pets, my 7 yr old, my house, my truck having issues, my kids dad who is also an employee getting incarcerated, my own injuries and illnesses, and fixing up the new office building. I have had a lot of rough things happen in the past 12 months, and those have made it more difficult at times to be on my A game. It will get better. I am doing all of the professional training and education I can get my hands on to make sure that Karnage Construction LLC continues to improve and grow.

February 14th will be my 10 year anniversary as a business which is also wild. Feel free to send us some love <3 <3 <3
